constance halaveli resort maldives

With a selection of over-water villas and suites, a healing spa worthy of the 10-hour travel, and loads included in the cost, the newest member in the Maldives, the family-run Sun Siyam group oozes contemporary chic. It’s difficult to stand out in one of the world’s best destinations but Iru Veli succeeds. Sun Siyam Iru Veli is the ultimate tropical hideaway, with sleek and spacious suites. With front-row lagoon views and a freshwater pool in every five-star room, all you have to do is check in, relax, and enjoy the daily entertainment provided by our resident dolphin. Our main restaurant, which prides itself on innovation, has a daily-changing menu to mix up seasonal flavours, and we service much of the ocean’s bounty with some of the tastiest seafood you’ll ever taste.

Sun Siyam Iru Veli has its own lagoon on Aluvifushi, a previously uninhabited island 35 minutes by seaplane from Male’s Velana International Airport. Guests of Sun Siyam have access to a VIP lounge at the seaplane terminal where they may enjoy refreshments, drinks, a children’s zone, and even a much-needed back, neck, and shoulder massage as they wait for their transfer. This protected lagoon, also known as the Dhaalu Atoll, is home to dolphins, stingrays, and whale sharks. Sun Siyam Iru Veli is located on the island of Aluvifushi in the maldives southern atolls, which features velvet-soft white sand beaches, a vivid lagoon, and a breathtaking sapphire ocean as far as the eye can see.

Style and Character

The Sun Siyam is known for the colours turquoise by the soft, sandy tones of the walls and flooring, mostly orange and green. The interiors are full of #inspiration for when you come home all relaxed and rejuvenated. The Sun Aqua Spa is your ocean refuge of wellbeing, built over the serene island lagoon. Immerse yourself in absolute peace, surrounded by magnificent blue waters and murmuring waves. Also, the spa, which is inspired by the beauty of the ocean and the island, combines therapeutic and restorative natural elements to deliver luxury wellness, beauty, and health in total harmony with the island’s delicate ecosystem.

Service and Facilities

The service is generally courteous and helpful. A kids’ club, table tennis, two swimming pools (one of which appears to reach into the Indian Ocean), a PADI dive centre, and a house reef are among the amenities. So the spa is built over the lagoon which has six overwater pavilions with hydrotherapy pools and a sauna. Morning yoga on the beach will make you feel good. A shisha bar is also available.

The 125 spacious rooms, like many Maldivian resorts, range from beachfront to overwater villas (the latter surprisingly noisy as the tide slaps against the supporting girders, despite their romantic reputation). Every unit has its own pool, as well as outdoor restrooms and showers in addition to particular favourite is the entry-level Beach Suites, which have cosy window seats with smooth concrete patios and views across daily-raked sand to the mesmerising sea beyond. Orange flip flops are a nice in-room accent that should be tucked away in the case.

With reclining chairs, freestanding bathtubs, and dark green mosaic scalloped tiles, large alfresco bathrooms are magical environments. So the black and gold light fixtures evoke chic New York hotels, while the amenities are contained in lovely soft straw-effect bags; bonus points for refillable own-brand toiletries.

Sun Siyam Iru Veli features six opulent pubs and restaurants that will tantalise and tease your taste buds with a variety of fresh flavours and culinary flare. Enjoy delectable cuisines influenced by traditional Maldivian and contemporary international cuisines, as well as a world-class wine cellar with a vast selection of excellent wines and champagnes. There will always be something to excite your taste buds, whether it’s your favourite comfort foods and cocktails, tantalising gourmet delicacies, a shisha bar for unwinding, or the freshest seafood right from the sparkling ocean.

Aqua Orange, a sprawling sand-floored all-day buffet with fresh salads ranging from on-trend colourful kimchi (my favourite) to pomelo and prawn, Asian dishes, and tiny cakes (to justify taking more…); Roma, an inviting Italian; and Grouper Grill for fresh fish are among the six restaurants and bars. The fresh Water pool bar serves afternoon tea every day and is also a fantastic venue for a pre-dinner sundowner.

In addition, at Aqua Orange, breakfast is a smorgasbord of rainbow-hued tropical fruit, exquisite pastries, and fragrant local delicacies; sample the daily health juice, such as antioxidant-rich bitter gourd.
